Due to the increasing intercultural interactions, multilingualism plays an important role worldwide. By consciously working as designers with several writing systems, we obviously speak to a larger readership, but above all we also convey clear social and political signals: How do we deal typographically with the different writing systems—are they separate or are they interwoven and interact with each other?

I have tried to approach the Farsi writing system visually by collecting everyday media. In a second step, I worked with designers from the University of Tehran. We shared our typographic knowledge and looked for ways to combine our writing systems typographically.
